Helck (1893-1988) was known as "the Dean of American automotive illustrators." After befriending Norman Rockwell while studying at the Art Students League, he enjoyed a steady career as a magazine illustrator and commercial artist for automotive ad campaigns. Other works by him can be found in the holdings of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Congressional Library in Washington D.C. He was inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame in 1968.
