This was done while on assignment for a Life Magazine story about drought in Texas. Mitchell Funk takes a break from photographing parched earth to creating a radical composition of parched paint. It's an extreme close up where color is the subject of the work. Having large swatches of color occupying a major part of the picture plane maybe popular today but in late 1970's it was quite novel thing in color photography .
