The large dog is my painting. Oil on canvas, mounted to masonite and then silhouetted with a jig-saw. The small dog is an old point-of-purchase plastic advertisment. Metal supports were attached to the back of both dogs and wired to the fence so that they would be in facing position. The symmetrical vertical architectural lines create at sense of balance and lock in the two figures in light of the precarious location. Strong late afternoon light and a clear yellow background were chosen to enhance the drama of the shot with long shadows and a compatible color scheme. I was trying to create an image that I had never seen before in photography. br Robert Funk is a pioneer of toy photography, doll photography, miniature photography and staged photography. He also photographs his own paintings. He doesn’t take photographs he creates photographs and has works dating from 1973. He was widely published in the 1970's and early 1980's.
