It's is a straight shot. I am photographing a photograph. The foreground image of sailboats is a cardboard cutout of a early 1960's point of purchase poster. I partially silhouette it. I then painted bright green and blue brushstrokes in a post-impressionist style directly on the poster surface to add some punchiness to the color. On location, I held the sailboat cut-out in my left hand and took the photo with a 20mm lens to make the all parts of the picture sharp. It was shot in southern Spain. The idea is that trees float on a vast sea of grass in the same way that boats float of a vast expanse of water. Juxtapose the two and there seems to be a nexus. Sails pointing the way, the foreground image tries to merge with the background image.
