This is a straight shot without photoshop. Robert Funk is a pioneer of staged photography with good going back to 1972. This is a self portrait with metal clips attached to facial skin that was shot in the studio by my brother Mitchell Funk. An 11 x 14 C print was made, mounted to cardboard and then silhouetted. The silhouetted C print was brought on to location in Midtown Manhattan and photographed in context of passerby. This image represents the early development of staged photography but there is all a secondary theme of Body Adornment. Both of which were done decades before both themes became popular.
