In the early in1970's Mitchell Funk was one of the very few photo innovators who used extreme late afternoon golden light. In "Hotel Dixie, 1975, the intense light not only illuminates form but melts it, as Funk transforms a Weehawken, New Jersey tourist vantage point snapshot into an a unique semi-abstract image.
