We are all born from Mother Earth. Mimicking a plant or tree , a muscular man standing on his head emerges upward from the desert ground with is legs spread out like branches. Seen from the back, the man's identity is purposely concealed so that he is more of an archetype than an individual. The only evidence of humanity in this vast primal landscape is the nude man. Shot outside of Taos, New Mexico, the image was photographed in infra-red to merge the unexpectedness of a nude upside-down man with an unexpected pictorial look. The resulting surreal image was taken 50 years ago and retains its artistic power and originality. br Signed and dated on the lower right recto , numbered 2\\u002F15 other size available, unframed, Printed later, Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper. br Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum.
