Wherever you look is the Chrysler Building. br From Weehawken, New Jersey, we see the vintage mid-town Manhattan skyline as it appeared in the winter of 1974. In the upper left quadrant, the spire of the Chrysler Building rises and proudly points to upward. In 1974, the Chrysler Building was one of the tallest structures in New York. In the foreground, a perfectly positioned white cruise ship sprouts smoke from its smokestack as it passes by. The ship gives scale to the buildings and makes a statement about the ephemeral and the permanent. The image is shrouded in a yellow-greenish tone derived from the setting sun and also from the light green filter that Photographer Mitchell Funk placed over the lens. In the early 1970's Mitchell Funk broke away from traditional color photography and embraced the idea of innovating with color and light. br The work is signed, numbered 3\\u002F15, dated lower right recto - printed later. unframed, Other sizes are available.
