This close-up of the Chrysler Building Spire in gold light was taken from the roof of a building on 38th Street. Its position gave Photographer Mitchell Funk a perfect line of sight to celebrate the spire's brilliant Art Deco design and sumptuous colors. The cropping of the image walks the razor's edge between abstraction and representation. A setting sun provides a perfect background of warm ochre and soft magentas that seamlessly weaves together the patterns of architecture and nature. The uploaded video on 1stDibs is coming up a bit off color. Refer to the still images for more accurate color Signed dated and numbered 3/5 lower right recto, other sizes available, unframed and printed later. This work is printed on fine art Hahnemuhle paper. The color will vary from monitor to monitor. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of "Color Photography." In 1970, he participated in one of the first "Color Photography" shows at a major museum. The Brooklyn Museum exhibition "Images en Couleur". In 1971, He was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" by Time-Life. As well as "Color ! " American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum, and he is in the Coca-Cola Archives. He has had more than 50 Photography Magazine Covers, and has had covers on Newsweek, Fortune, Life Magazine and New York Magazine, and has been in The Smithsonian American Art Magazine,
