Veteran photographer Mitchell Funk strikes a fine balance between abstraction and representation in this optically pleasing color photograph. The sky turns pink magenta as waves crash on the rocks on Jersey Shore New Jersey. This pioneering multiple exposure photograph from 1972 was done in-camera on Kodachrome 25. It was taken 50 years ago and looks as contemporary as any recent photograph. Light skims off a shimmering sea and the waves turn colors from magenta to orange to blue to green.
