Italian illustrator Gianni Benvenuti depicts a dramatic scene from the epic Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes. With unrivaled skill, Benvenuti captures a peak moment of drama when Don Quixote, dressed in armor and mounted, impales a sheep with his lance. As a result, we see the dirt of dusk kick up and fill the air. The artist combines an "Action Painting" splash technique with carefully rendered detail of the subjects to enhance the dynamic nature of the moment. Work is unsigned and unframed. This was executed as a commercial assignment for an illustrated book on Don Quixote. - The lead full image most represents the color when viewed in person.
