A desert rock takes the shape of a falcon as it leads the eye into a complex and deftly executed composition. It evokes a dreamlike and haunting feeling of Egyptian ruins. Two lone figures in formal poses rest on a fallen obelisk. A mix of man-made objects and humans are inextricably integrated into the natural barren and dusty landscape. Berman's simplified painting style and a restricted palette convey a sense of surreal fantasy. Berman is an overlooked master of post-surrealism and magic realism. br Titled on verso, "Aswan Landscape with two Obelisks", br Looks much better in person with nice surface texture. br verso also reads, "EB Jan. 1965 Rome." br Housed in a simple thin wood frame
