Enter the whimsical world of famed children's book illustrators husband and wife team Alice and Martin Provensen. On top of a heavy tree trunk sits a black top hat that is inhabited seventeen kookie creatures. A flute playing bear is flanked by a pink owl, a cute blue bug and dancing bubbly frog with arm up in the air. The party continues on the hat's brim with a festive chickens, crane, love birds and bumble bee etc. Sitting on the trunk are two critters in profile, They face one another with arms and legs joined as if it's a rorschach test. Two eyes and one plump rose color nose stares out at the viewer. Signed lower right, unframed. The work was most likely done on for one of their book projects.
