Self-appointed social justice warrior painter Philip Evergood protests the state of the world in his 1962 painting, Holocaust. It serves as a universal indictment of man's brutality towards one another. The painting recalls Picasso's Guernica (1937) with its powerful anti-war message.
In the mid-20th century, Evergood was one of the few painters who actively stood as the conscience of American society. Through his artwork, he voiced opinions that were generations ahead of their time. Signed Philip Evergood, lower left - 35.5 x 45.5 x 1.5 inches. Framed
