This is a straight shot. It is not a grab shop where I capture a big fish flying over Ft. Lauderdale beach. Instead, the big fish is a silhouetted cutout from a fish magazine. The cutout is in my right hand and my Nikon is in my left hand. Snap....with a 20mm lens and deep depth of field, I was able to integrate the foreground fish cutout into a acutely dramatic tropical sky. Initially, the image creates a double take for the viewer. It was done in 1978 generations before photoshop where image superimposition is simple as shooting fish in a barrel. br Robert Funk is a pioneer of toy, doll, miniature, plastic thingies and staged photography. He also photographs his own paintings. Most of his work is done on location. He does not use photoshop to strip in images. He doesn’t take photographs he creates photographs and has works dating from 1973. He was widely published in the 1970's and early 1980's. As an undergrad in painting, he studied with first-generation abstract expressionist Robert Richenburg and hyper-realist painter Janet Fish and then in Graduate School for Art History with famed critic E.C. Goossen. He went on to work as a Photographer, New York Advertising Agency Art Director for Print and TV, Art Collector and Gallerist - Unframed, other sizes available. Printed later on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper
